Freemie® Fashion Tips
With the Freemie® and these tips you’ll be stealthy, styling, and pumping with your clothes on in no time!

  1. Try different bras with and without padding. Take into account where you are going to want to place your pump, since the vacuum hoses will be running from the pump into the devices in your bra.

  2. If you’re using your Freemie system around the house, and privacy is not an issue, obviously optimal comfort and accessibility to your bra will probably be your choice for attire. You may want to place the pump high on a table close to you, and utilize a low-cut top to slip the devices down in from the top, with the hose coming out and directly to the pump. This might also work well while pumping and simultaneously nursing.

  3. If you prefer warmth, whether at home or at work, tops with stretch to them can give nicely while keeping you insulated, and accommodate the added endowment of the Freemie® devices.

  4. In the workplace, un-tucked tops with open necklines are the way to go for many women, so that you can easily slip the devices up from underneath, and allow the hoses to come right back out the way your hands went in. If you’re at a desk or store counter, the hoses may not even be visible to people you’re interacting with directly. Some turtlenecks and belted tops may make it harder to insert and remove the Freemie® devices discreetly.

  5. If you’ve got form-fitting tops and you want to disguise the flat spot on the Freemie which allows you to set your milk down on the table without spilling, the LilyPadz silicone nursing pads adhere right onto the outside of the bowl, over the flat spot, very nicely. Also, it’s a good idea to have your breast pads or LilyPadz handy if you’re in a hurry and want to pump quickly, get your milk stored and get back to whatever you were doing. Ideally, if you can take your time and collect milk for a minute or two after you’ve finished pumping you can just leave the Freemie devices in a little longer while you keep working, so there’s no wet spot to worry about.

  6. Jackets and sweaters that hang open work nicely.

  7. Got wraps or scarves? The possibilities are endless!

  8. Remind yourself about all the things you’ve ever stashed in your bra (keys, lipstick, tissue, etc.) and how you did it without anyone knowing...

  9. Remind yourself that pumping concealed with the Freemie® system is more discreet than breastfeeding in public.

  10. If your work station is out in the open and you’re concerned about someone catching you with your hand up your shirt, slip away for a minute and put the devices in your bra, with the tubing hanging down. Then simply return and connect to your pump. And if slipping away isn’t possible, remind yourself that they may catch you with a hand up your shirt, but at least they won’t see you undressed…

  11. Also understand that chances are VERY good, in many work environments, most people won’t even know what you’re doing. And if they do hear the faint sound of your pump, odds are they won’t know what it is, and will ask. We recommend you take the opportunity to practice having a “teaching moment,” and explain how nature intended for mammals to nourish their babies. If you’re a new mom, trust us, this practice will help prepare you for the toddler years!
